MOUNTAIN

While Cadiz is well known for its beaches, many of them virtually untouched, its mountains have nothing to be ashamed of either.  Beach and mountains make the perfect duo for tourists and the local inhabitants alike. In fact, their are villages that begin in the mountains and finish at the sea, like Vejer-de-la-Frontera, regarded as one of the prettiest villages in Spain, inspiring artists and writers such as Federico Moccia.

But Cadiz is also much much more. You can see the snow on the peaks of Grazalema, enjoy with family and friends a a trek along the banks of the river Majaceite (El Bosque) or hike up through the extraordinary Pinsapar (also Grazalema). Virtually all the villages in the Sierra have been built between mountains:  Medina Sidonia,  Alcalá  de  los Gazules,  Arcos  de  la  Frontera, Setenil de las Bodegas.

There are a never ending alternatives for enjoying inland Cadiz, where the food has its own special twist, with traditional stews of meat and pulses. These all make great excursions in the autumn and winter, for seasonal sports, or simply for disconnecting and letting yourself be surprised.
